 Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is manipulation of the musculo-skeletal system to alleviate pain and tension, facilitate healing and create a feeling of relaxation and well being.  Swedish massage is a light pressure massage, which is used to increase circulation and for relaxation.  Deep tissue massage focuses on manipulation with deeper pressure to alleviate areas or tension or pain.  Integration of Swedish, deep tissue and neuromuscular therapy can be used during a session to provide for the client’s needs.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy is a deeper form of bodywork.  Often neuromuscular therapy is used for chronic pain, tension and injury.   The focus of this type of bodywork is to bring balance between the musculo-skeletal system and the nervous system.   This type of therapy is done by manipulating  areas of pain or tension, working with trigger points, as well as the origin and insertion points of the muscles, and facilitating to balance postural distortions.

 Reflexology

Reflexology is the art of working with the reflex points on the feet.  The feet are the source of points which correspond to all of the systems and organs of the body.  During a reflexology session all of the reflex points of the feet are worked, bringing balance to all of the systems and leaving your feet feeling wonderful.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a very light, gentle therapy which focuses on the cranio-sacral system.  The cranio-sacral system is made up of cerebrospinal fluid and the membranes which surround the brain and spinal cord.  We have a cranio-sacral rhythm which can be felt throughout the body.  The quality of the rhythm tells the practitioner where to work.  The practitioner then follows where the body wants to go, allowing for the innate intelligence of the body to orchestrate.  Cranio-sacral therapy is used for many types of pain, stress and tension, as well as headaches, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, TMJ, scoliosis, PTSD, as well as many other conditions.

Sound Therapy

We are continually affected by sound and vibration.  You can notice a big difference in the way you feel standing on the sidewalk of a busy city with horns blaring and people screaming as opposed to how you feel sitting in the woods along a peaceful stream.  Sound and vibration have a direct effect on us on a physical, emotional and energetic level.  Sound therapy is a very relaxing therapy using tuning forks, bells, bowls and chimes.  At times the sound is applied directly to body (placing tuning forks on the body) or is used above the body in the energy field.  Different vibrations have different effects.  Sound and vibration move quickly through the body and can  facilitate powerful changes.

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy.  Everything that has life is supported by a universal energy.  Our whole being is supported and directed by universal energy at its deepest level.

Reiki is an ancient healing method which allows energy to be channeled through the body for health, balance and healing.  Reiki can be used as a tool for self-transformation, for support of many acute and chronic conditions, as well as providing an overall sense of peace and well-being.

During a Reiki session the practitioner will place their hands very lightly on the body or above the body in different positions.  Most often a feeling of warmth or heat is felt under the practitioner’s hands.  Often times there will also be sensations of intense heat, tingling, pulsing and sometimes a coolness.  Each Reiki session is different, as it addresses your needs in that moment.

Reiki balances the energy body and the chakra system.  It is believed that energy proceeds form and that imbalances in the energy body eventually manifest to physical form if they are unable to be released or balanced.  Reiki works at the core of our issues, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically.

Reiki Classes

Everyone has the ability to do Reiki, and the system of Reiki is simple and easy to learn.  One of the most wonderful things about Reiki is that you can use it on yourself.

There are three levels taught in the Traditional Usui Method of Reiki.  The first level is for the absolute beginner.  You will receive the first level attunement to the Reiki energy, learn how to do a Reiki session on yourself and others, learn how to work with animals and plants, as well as other many other uses for Reiki.

In the second level of Reiki, you will receive attunements to the Reiki symbols.  There are three Reiki symbols taught at this level.  The symbols deepen the effects of the energy flowing through you, and enable you to access deeper levels of healing.  You will also learn how to do distance healing.

The third level of Reiki is the Master Level.  This level is for those that want to deepen their Reiki experience or for those who wish to teach Reiki.  In this level, you are attuned to the Master symbol and learn how to pass attunements and to teach classes.

Yoga

Yoga is a word meaning union.  Yoga is a uniting of all of the aspects of a person’s being.  Many traditions of yoga are made up of a combination of asanas (postures), pranayama (yogic breathing), meditation, mantra (chanting) and yoga philosophy.

The asanas, or yoga postures, are physical movements which open the muscles and joints, increasing range of motion, releasing tension or stiffness, correcting postural imbalances and increasing circulation.  In addition to the structural benefits of the postures, they also benefit the organs, glands and nervous system, as well as balancing the energy body.  Although the postures are physical in nature, they also have a direct positive effect on the mind.

Pranayama, or yogic breathing, allows for better oxygenation of the body by learning how to breathe properly and to fully utilize lung capacity.  Yogic breathing also helps to calm the body and mind, reduce stress, release toxins and balance the body’s energy system.  Pranayama literally means to control our life force.  Through the practice of pranayama we begin to experience levels of energy and expanded ness that we may never have touched upon before.

Mantra or chanting can also be though of as a form of pranayama.  Through chanting we begin to learn to control the breath.  We also begin to feel the healing powers of vibration.  Vibration changes us on an energetic level and can facilitate deep changes.

Meditation helps to quiet the mind and relax the body.  A regular meditation practice can have profound effects on your life ranging from stress relief, feeling more peaceful, a greater quality of sleep, a greater connection with others as well as with the self, and a strong sense of spiritual connection.

Everyone has the ability to practice yoga.  It makes no difference your age or physical condition.  You do not need to be flexible or strong.  Yoga can be adapted to fit everyone.

Many people seek out yoga as a means of relieving some physical tension or pain, or to help reduce stress.  Although yoga will certainly be helpful with these things, people soon realize that yoga is so much more that just that.  Each and every time we practice yoga we have the opportunity to learn something new about ourselves.  We bring our awareness from having an outer focus to an inner focus.  Yoga helps to cultivate a sense of being present in the body and living fully in the moment.
