Reiki is a Universal Life Energy, used to heal body, mind, soul and spirit.  It was rediscovered in Japan during the mid 19th century by Mikao Usui.  Later Chujiro Hayashi developed the system used today to pass on this energy to his students.  Hawayo Takata, an Hawaiian born Japanese woman, brought this system to America.

Today it is used in private settings and health care systems.  Relatively easy to learn, but profound in its ability to heal, has made it a world wide phenomenon.
